The Inner Core is a small region in the galaxy, about eight thousand light years across, that hides unusual worlds. The Inner Core is home to thirty to fourty billion of the galaxy's oldest stars, and at its centre is a supermassive black hole surrounded by antimatter and dense clusters where stars are only a hundredth of a light year apart. In some areas they are so close that they collide and rip the cores from each other. Due to the gravitational pull of the massive number of stars hyperspace travel is nearly impossible, but if one uses one of the two hyperlanes, hyperspace travel is relatively simple.
